Step three. Training for prospective adoptive parents
If there are no circumstances that prevent You from becoming an adoptive parent:
The territorial division of the Service shall immediately, but not later than within 1 working day from the date of adoption of the decision on the initial assessment of the person, contact the care centre of the person’s place of residence regarding the organisation of the training and inform the person wishing to adopt the child in writing within 3 working days from the date of adoption of the decision on the initial assessment of the person wishing to adopt the child.
The duration of the training - a maximum of 3 months. The training consists of 7 group meetings and at least 2 individual meetings. In group and individual meetings, the Service’s certified persons assess the motives of the family/individual in accordance with the 5 competency areas of the GIMK programme and help to identify the family’s potential and readiness to adopt a child.
