Step four. Conclusions on readiness for adoption and inclusion in the list of citizens of the Republic of Lithuania permanently residing in the Republic of Lithuania willing to adopt

Conclusion on the readiness of a person wishing to adopt a child

* The preparation of the conclusion on the readiness for adoption takes no more than 10 working days from the end of the training for adoptive parents. The conclusion is communicated to the adoptive parents. They sign it.

* A positive conclusion on readiness to adopt a child is valid for 24 months from the date of the preparation of the conclusion. The conclusion on the readiness to adopt a child shall be submitted by the certified persons of the Service to the territorial division of the Service within 3 working days from the day of signing the conclusion.

* In case of a negative conclusion on the readiness to adopt a child, the certified persons of the Service shall submit it to the territorial division of the Service, and a copy of the negative conclusion shall be submitted to the applicants.

* Once the reasons for the negative conclusion on the readiness of adoptive parents to adopt a child have disappeared, the persons may re-apply to the territorial division of the Service for the assessment of the readiness to adopt a child.


Inclusion in the list of citizens of the Republic of Lithuania permanently residing in the Republic of Lithuania willing to adopt

The Service, having received a positive conclusion on the readiness to adopt a child, within 3 working days from the date of receipt of the conclusion, shall take a decision to enrol or not to enrol the persons willing to adopt in the list of citizens of the Republic of Lithuania permanently residing in the Republic of Lithuania willing to adopt.

The Service shall take a decision not to include a person in the list of citizens of the Republic of Lithuania permanently residing in the Republic of Lithuania willing to adopt, if at least one of the circumstances referred to in Article 3.210(4) of the Civil Code is revealed. If a person has been convicted of other criminal offence(s) and the right to adopt is decided by a court, that person shall be entered in the list of citizens of the Republic of Lithuania permanently residing in the Republic of Lithuania willing to adopt.
