1. If the conclusion is positive, the Foster Care Centre will provide you with information about a child without parental care who is available for guardianship (care) (if you have not applied for guardianship (care) of a specific child). Note that it is not the family that chooses the child, a family is found for the child that is best able to meet the needs of the individual child.

2. If you are appointed as the child’s temporary guardian (carer), you will take care of the child until the issue of the possibility of returning the child to his/her biological family has been resolved; until the court has issued a decision (order) on the establishment of permanent guardianship; until the child reaches adulthood (or emancipation); or until the child is adopted.

3. If you are appointed as the child’s permanent guardian (carer), the guardianship (care) of the child in your care may last until the child reaches the adulthood (or emancipation), or until he or she marries, is adopted, or is returned to his or her parents.

It is important to note that the selection of a guardian (carer) for a child (if the application is not for a specific child) is carried out by the foster care centre’s guardianship (care) selection committee.
