Foster family – a non-profit public legal person with limited civil liability established in accordance with the law. 

A foster family caring for four or more children (the total number of children in a foster family with its own children is limited to eight) in a family environment. The total number of children may be higher when siblings are not separated, or lower when a child with a disability is in care.
The foster family is a guardian (carer) of children, which ensures the implementation and protection of the rights and interests of children in the care of the foster family, provides social care for children, and the necessary assistance according to the individual needs of children in the family environment.
